GIFT OF THE LITTLE PEOPLE
GIFT of the LITTLE PEOPLE
Nothing could spoil a summer vacation faster for sixteen-year-old Danny O’Donnell than having his grandfather drop in unannounced . . . especially when the grandfather is a retired sheepherder from the old world, still sporting knickers, argyle socks, and an Irish brogue.  Danny and his family know they are in trouble the minute they discover their grandfather, Ian O’Donnell, in the airport, sprawled on the baggage conveyor belt where a mishap had just taken him on an unexpected ride.  From there, Danny figures it can only get worse.  And it does.  Danny and his brothers' hilarious plans to foil their grandfather's visit only backfire, time and again.  Not only is the grandfather they hardly know able to rebound, but the lively older man gives his grandsons an embarrassing run for their money.  Hard-hearted Danny finds himself snared in an intense dislike for the man who refuses to allow the loathing arrows to penetrate his soul.  The humorous little man is appealing to everyone but Danny.  The stubborn teenager clashes with the servant of God who reflects love and joy in the world around him, forcing Danny to learn a most valuable lesson he'll never forget.  A charming tale filled with laughter.  (Teens-Adults)
